Birthday Celebrations for a Scientist Each Month

The history of science is full of astounding discoveries, innovative technology, life-changing breakthroughs, and advancements that have paved the way for the future. Our modern society wouldn’t exist without the countless men and women who have dedicated their lives to progressing our world through science. We don’t always have a lot of time to cover scientists in our instruction but it is important that your students gain an understanding of their impact. To assist with this, we’re providing you with a printable list of some of our favorite scientists along with a short bio about each. We hope this will help your students learn about and reflect on their contributions! A few of the scientists listed below are also linked with a more detailed activity your students can complete.

Check out our free activities that honor some of these scientists and include them in your instruction. The rest will be linked as we approach each scientist’s birthday.

Throw a birthday party for a new scientist every month and celebrate the birthdays of your students who share the same birthday month.

Incorporate group projects in your classroom by assigning small groups a different scientist. Have them prepare a bio and presentation to give to the class on or near that scientist’s birthday.

Have your students complete the Explore a Scientist activity for each scientist on or near his or her birthday.
