15 Questions for Reflection

Reflection is something you’re doing daily, and maybe even hourly, often without even realizing it. You’re constantly analyzing why yesterday’s lab activity worked or why over half of the class failed the last test.

You’re already reflecting all year long but the end of the school year is an important time to do a major overhaul of your classroom. Here are 15 questions to ask yourself as you close out this year and prepare for next!

Content + Delivery

  1. What evidence do I have that my students are mastering each concept?
  2. What is my approach when students aren’t learning?
  3. Does my gradebook reflect student learning? (Rather than just task completion?)
  4. What strategies do I implement for struggling learners?
  5. Did I provide a variety of learning styles?

Classroom Environment

6.   Do I give my students adequate chances to make choices?
7.   Did I treat every student in a way that promotes learning?
8.   Are procedures in place to assist learning?
