Four Square Vocabulary Graphic Organizer

Happy August! Can you believe it’s already here? This summer, we’ve spent some time creating new curriculum, updating our teacher materials, and meeting new teachers. We’re excited for the kickoff of a brand new school year. One thing we’ve been focusing on recently is creating graphic organizers that can be used in a variety of ways. The best part is you don’t have to spend time re-teaching your expectations. Once they’ve completed it once or twice, they can just get right to work. Most of these will work for every single unit you teach!

Inspiration | Here are a few of our favorite ways to use it:

  1. Have students select the vocabulary word that is most difficult for them to remember and complete this graphic organizer in the days approaching the unit test.
  2. If you use it in regular rotation, it’s a simple thing to leave with a substitute teacher. Have them complete one for every single vocabulary term in the current unit. More science sub plans here!
  3. Use it for students who regularly finish their classwork quicker than the rest of your classroom. More activities for fast finishers here!
  4. Build their presentation skills and have students demonstrate their Four Square Vocabulary to a small group or the whole class.
